It's a rubbish Mac-based tablet computer thing that's pretty pointless as it's Mac-based and a tablet computer, but we have to do something about it as it's called the AXIOTRON MODBOOK.
It runs "OS X" which is that thing Mac-fans lie about never crashing, even though all we hear in the office is the Mac restarting sound and the sound of someone sighing as all their morning's work has just been lost.

They've just taken a standard Macbook, ripped off the normal screen and replaced it with an LCD tablet touch screen display thingy.

A Wacom-enabled slate tablet for ~$2k isn't bad, really, if you absolutely *must* use OSX.
No-one must absolutely use OS X. If you want a machine that's good for work but otherwise barely supported and used by a bunch of jingoistic hippies then go for it. You'd never see a military man such as myself using a Modbook! Also for Kirsty she gets a triple whammy - would-would-would. In fact, can I pay someone to wear a mask in her guise whilst I fondle them?
Dont military men just use a compas and a map when doing all their computations? Maybe the military would have a better image of modernity if they used macs instead of brutalising the enemy and new recruits in the bottom.
Or at least the could upload their abuse photos quicker via airport.

Does anyone have a review of this product or is it so bad that no one will even purchase this first gen mac tablet?
Well, at least the review is balanced and informative and now, after reading this feel as is I have actually touched this computer and used it for hours and hours on end.
I've worked in graphic design and some small time animation companies over the past 18 years, using a large range of Microsoft and Apple Mac based computers and software.
And to be honest with you, i've experianced far more errors, problems and (a ridiculous amount) of crash's using Microsoft Windows based hardware and software than I ever have (and most likly ever will) on a Mac.
So I think, just maybe, this Modbook might be a tad bit better than you're moaning about.
I use mac, have done for years. It's not infallible, especially not Leopard! But it's fast, clean, and I find it amazingly productive. AMAZINGLY productive. I'm a tweaker, and I maintain my gear properly. It's not bomb proof, but it's close.
I am a graphic designer, and have been considering a wacom cintiq desktop tablet screen, which costs more than this entire mac.
Food for thought.
And this isn't just any tablet, this is Wacom. Pressure, angle, rotation sensitive, and in excess of 5000dpi resolution. Not your Acer tablet job.
Yes, this is the best tablet on the market. It's twice the price of your Acer. It's got NO keyboard. I don't care. I wanna draw on the screen using photoshop. This is a mac for artists & designers. 3G card and I'm free.

friggin well said. this modbook appeals majorly to the graphic designers / illustrators / geekatrons out there, such as myself (as i'm all three.) And as soon as my student loan for university comes through i'm getting myself one of these badboys. I've never had a problem with OSX, ever. compared to the millions of zillions of faults, flaws and downright pissy annoyances i've had with windows, i think for me personally it's a safe bet who to go for in terms of overall quality and performance.
This is like a wet dream for me, seriously. i'll have to get that kleenex attachment if they ever make it, cus my screen's bound to get a few marks on it ;)

Apparently not.
The ModBook (yeah I think they could have done a better job of naming it) is a licensed use of and approved by Apple.
And yes I do want one of them when I can swing the price.
PLUS they are bluetoothed equipped for a keyboard or mouse should you need one.
All set up for wireless connections and can probably run that windows shit on it too..if you absolutly have to.
Show me the vista tablet with pressure sensitive angle & rotation 5000dpi human interface with 5 different pens which are assigned to different tools. And you can turn the pen around and use it as a rubber. Show it to me.
