My old aircon unit remote had a button that said "weep". I really wish I still had it.

Just considered my position regarding my previous post. I reckon I CAN take it.
Particularly if the old remotes are being held by early 80's proffesional holders. I can see the soft focus, metric tons of frizzy hair and toxic coloured lipstick already. Bring it on.

Really old remotes worked by hitting metal bars to produce ultrasonic chimes. This is actually true and everything.
Sadly that meant they didn't require batteries, so there is no place for them here.
