Gadgets with FACES #36: Fashionable London ashtray
It's powered by electricity, therefore is a gadget and fits the remit. It has definite potential as a Doctor Who Season 5 baddie, in an episode entitled "Thank You For Not Smoking." There would be an amusing and possibly homo-erotically charged scene in which the Doctor professes his love of "picking up a good butt."

Well, it's eyes do look a bit illuminated. I assumed it was by battery/AC/DC means, but I guess that's just the fire burning within.
That's the nearest I've ever got to admitting I'm wrong about something in my life.
"Season 5"? You mean "Series 5," surely. First The Swill Man, now this. Frankly, I'm considering cancelling my subscription altogether.

And last time I incurred the wrath of you Britpolice was when I put 'center' instead of 'centre' and had to resort to calling everyone twats and wankers in the vain hope that it'd somehow prove my Britishness.
As for the orangey bit, I reckon it was the same orange as the arrow above it, but has become darkened by all the butts. It just looks like an orange bit stuck inside. Also the colouration is uniform, so it can't simply be illumination from cigarette butts alone.
